Peter Ward

Peter Ward with Joseph (Jeff) Nijs of AMP, Brussels and his wife at a Distripress Congress "somewhere and sometime probably in the late 60s!" .

I started my publishing career in January 1964 as the Europe rep for Henry M. Snyder Inc.

I was poached in 1967 by Christopher Shaw of New English Library. Times Mirror International was founded 2 or 3 years later as the sales arm for the newly acquired publishers of the Los Angeles Times. I was the first Sales manager for Europe for New English Library, New American Library, Harry N. Abrams Inc., World Publishing, The C.V.Mosby Company and Year Book Medical.

In 1974 I went freelance under the name of Peter Ward Book Exports in Europe and afterwards in the Middle East. I also ran a wholesale company, Booktraders Ltd, with my brother Richard for a few years.

I retired from Peter Ward Book Exports six years ago and founded a small reprint company, Parkway Publishing, concentrating on travel and cookery, mainly in the Middle East countries. I sold Parkway Publishing in 2013 to Trevor Naylor who used to be my Sales Manager at Peter Ward Book Exports, and am now working as an Authors' Agent and Scout. Peter Ward Book Exports is still in existence, run by Richard.
