First export trip was Moscow Book Fair, September 1981, when I was working at Phaidon - shortly followed by my first Frankfurt.
1984, appointed Export Manager of Orbis, reporting to Tim Wilton-Steer.
1986 (briefly, following the sale of Orbis to Robert Maxwell) - Deputy Export Manager at Macdonald, working with Terry Melia and David Parrish.

1987-2007, MD of New Holland Publishers (UK) Ltd.
In January 2008, I launched John Beaufoy Publishing Ltd., where I continue to have a strong presence in overseas markets, particularly in Southeast Asia.
